Get to know the Perse Principal: Lynne Oldfield

At the heart of The Perse School (Singapore) is a clear vision: to provide a future-focused British education rooted in over 400 years of Cambridge heritage. Leading this vision is our Principal, Lynne Oldfield, whose passion for education, commitment to student development, and belief in nurturing confident, curious learners shape the culture of the school every day.

A Leader Committed to Every Child

Lynne brings with her extensive experience in British and international education, with a deep understanding of what enables students to thrive—not just academically, but personally. Her approach is grounded in the belief that every child is unique, and that a great school creates the conditions for each student to discover their strengths, interests, and voice.

At The Perse, this translates into a learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to do their best.

Building a Future-Focused School

Since the launch of The Perse School (Singapore), Lynne has been instrumental in shaping a school that combines strong academic foundations with a forward-looking curriculum. From early years through to Senior School, students benefit from specialist teaching, a broad co-curricular programme, and opportunities to explore subjects such as entrepreneurship, design and technology, and sustainability.

With the introduction of A Levels in August 2027, Lynne continues to lead the development of a clear and rigorous academic pathway that prepares students for top universities and future careers.

A Strong Sense of Community

For Lynne, education goes beyond the classroom. She places great emphasis on building a warm, inclusive, and diverse community where students, parents, and staff feel a strong sense of belonging.

With over 60 nationalities represented in the school—and no single nationality exceeding 18%—The Perse School (Singapore) reflects a truly international environment where students learn from one another and develop a global outlook.

Guided by Values, Driven by Purpose

The Perse School’s values—such as intellectual curiosity and scholarship—are central to Lynne’s leadership. She believes these values not only guide teaching, but also empower students to become independent thinkers, resilient learners, and responsible individuals.

Under her leadership, students are encouraged to question, explore, and engage deeply with their learning—developing the confidence to succeed in school and beyond.

Looking Ahead

As The Perse School (Singapore) continues to grow, Lynne remains focused on ensuring that every student receives a high-quality, well-rounded education. With purpose-built facilities, strong ties to The Perse Cambridge, and a commitment to innovation, the school is well positioned to support students on their journey to success.

“At The Perse, we want every student to feel confident, curious, and capable. Our role is to guide them, challenge them, and support them as they discover who they are and what they can achieve.”
