The Perse Aristotelian Award (Singapore Edition) 2025–26

In celebration of Perse Cambridge alumnus Professor John Clarke, recipient of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics, The Perse School (Singapore) proudly launches the Aristotelian Award (Singapore Edition), a special recognition celebrating excellence in research, inquiry, and discovery.

Rooted in the same intellectual tradition that has defined The Perse School, Cambridge for over 400 years, this award extends the spirit of academic curiosity to Singapore. It invites Year 9 students from all schools to showcase their passion for learning, research, and critical thinking — values at the heart of a Perse education.

About the Aristotelian Award

Each year, The Perse School, Cambridge welcomes students from the UK and around the world to take part in the Aristotelian Award, a prestigious international essay competition designed to nurture independent thought and scholarly excellence.

Students select one of several thought-provoking topics in Arts & Humanities or Sciences, exploring ideas that challenge and inspire. Essays are judged for creativity, critical thinking, and research rigour, with winners receiving cash prizes (£70 for top entries and £20 for highly commended essays).

Singapore Edition 2025: Connecting Cambridge and Singapore

To honour Professor Clarke’s remarkable achievements and enduring Perse spirit, The Perse School (Singapore) now brings this award to our shores.

Year 9 students from all schools across Singapore are invited to participate. From these entries, 25 students will be shortlisted, and their essays submitted to The Perse School, Cambridge, where they will compete for the international Aristotelian Award and global recognition.

This initiative symbolises our deep connection with The Perse Cambridge, reflecting our shared pursuit of academic excellence, curiosity, and discovery, and reaffirming our commitment to bringing Cambridge-quality learning to students in Singapore.
