LAMDA Showcase Celebrates Student Confidence and Creativity

Recently, The Perse School (Singapore) hosted its LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) Showcase on campus, welcoming parents and families to enjoy an afternoon of student performances. The showcase provided students with the opportunity to share their work before an audience and gain valuable experience ahead of their upcoming LAMDA examinations.

Students from different year groups took to the stage to present a variety of entertaining performances. The Year 3 and 4 group performed The Months as part of their Group Introductory examination work, while the Year 7 and 8 group showcased their devised drama piece, An Invitation…to Murder! Or Something!. The latter, in particular, had a delightful sense of humour that garnered laughter and enthusiastic applause from the audience. The audience also enjoyed individual performances featuring poetry recitation and public speaking presentations by students as young as Year 2 and Year 4.

The showcase was a wonderful reflection of the students’ hard work, commitment, and growing confidence. Throughout the year, students have developed their performance skills while learning to adapt, collaborate, and persevere through challenges. Standing on stage and performing in front of an audience takes courage, and every participant should be proud of their achievements. Beyond the performances themselves, the event highlighted the importance of teamwork and supporting one another throughout the creative process. As Justin Lee, a LAMDA instructor at The Perse, aptly said, “Drama and theatre are not just about the play; they are also about the team and the spirit of the group.”

LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) is one of the world’s leading providers of speech, drama, and performance qualifications. It offers examinations in subjects such as Acting, Speaking in Public, Verse & Prose, Musical Theatre, and more. At The Perse School (Singapore), students can explore drama and music both as classroom subjects and as extra-curricular activities, providing opportunities to develop creativity, communication skills, and self-confidence both in and beyond the classroom.
