Eid Mubarak from us at The Perse School (Singapore)

Celebrating Eid at The Perse

Our school community came together this week for a joyful and meaningful celebration of Eid, embracing one of the many cultural traditions represented within our diverse school.

The celebration began with an engaging and informative session led by Ms Mai, who introduced students to the significance of Hari Raya. She explained why Muslims fast during Ramadan and shared how Eid is a time of gratitude, reflection, and togetherness. Her presentation offered students a deeper insight into the values and traditions of the festival.

To mark the occasion, Ms Kephren Sherry, Head of Pelican School, joined in the festivities wearing a traditional abaya, much to the delight of the students.

In our Early Years classes, the celebration continued with the help of our wonderful parent volunteer, who read Eid-themed books to the children. The students then took part in a hands-on craft activity, decorating crescent moons—a symbol of Eid that many had learned about earlier in the day.

No celebration would be complete without food, and students were treated to a traditional kuih lovingly prepared by Ms Mun, giving everyone a chance to experience the flavours of Hari Raya.

The day was a wonderful reminder of the strength we find in diversity and the joy that comes from learning about one another. Events like these reflect The Perse School (Singapore)’s commitment to fostering cultural awareness and a truly global perspective.
