The Arts are embedded throughout our curriculum from Nursery through to the Senior years, developing essential skills while nurturing creativity and artistic exploration. From Year 10, students with a strong passion for the arts may choose to specialise in IGCSE Art.
VISUAL ARTS
Students explore how artists draw inspiration from nature through the study of natural forms, patterns, textures, and organic structures, developing personal interpretations through observation, experimentation, and still-life composition.
In Year 10, students build on these foundations by exploring the theme Connection through drawing, design, research, and personal meaning, studying artists and designers such as Ketna Patel, Slinkachu, El Seed, and Banksy. Through a range of media including drawing, collage, photography, and 2D/3D design, students develop technical skills, critical reflection, and the foundations of their IGCSE coursework portfolio.
DRAMA
The Drama curriculum develops students’ confidence, creativity, and expressive skills through practical exploration of performance styles and traditions. Students study the evolution of drama from Greek Theatre to Silent Movies and Physical Theatre, learning how voice, movement, facial expression, and physicality communicate meaning and emotion.
Through improvisation, scripted work, ensemble performance, and devising original scenes, students collaborate creatively, engage audiences, and build strong foundations in performance, interpretation, and theatrical storytelling.
MUSIC
Students build strong musicianship while developing creativity and expression. Students build their “inner ear” through singing, solfa, rhythm, and notation, learning to connect sound with musical symbols as they compose and perform melodies from a range of traditions. As the course progresses, students explore the world of film music, analysing how composers use melody, instrumentation, and leitmotifs to create atmosphere and emotion.
Through collaborative performance and digital composition, students create original music for film, developing listening, analytical, and creative skills.
CULINARY ARTS
Our Culinarian Lab offers students the opportunity to explore cooking as both an art and a science. Through hands-on learning, students develop essential skills in food preparation, presentation, and nutrition, fostering a passion for culinary excellence and innovation.
