Student Voices in Action
At The Perse School (Singapore), we believe that students are not just members of our community—they are active contributors to it. Our Student Council plays an essential role in ensuring that every pupil has a voice in shaping the life of the school.
In their most recent meeting, council members came together to engage in thoughtful and enthusiastic discussions about school life. The agenda ranged from practical suggestions to enhance day-to-day routines, to bigger-picture plans such as upcoming community spirit events that aim to bring the school together in celebration and shared purpose.
What’s especially inspiring is how these young leaders don’t just talk—they take action. One of their first initiatives led to a successful update to the toilet stalls, a request raised by students and followed through by the Council. It’s a small but powerful example of pupil voice in action, and a reminder that even the simplest improvements can make a meaningful difference in the school experience.
The Student Council is more than just a forum for ideas; it’s a training ground for leadership, responsibility, and collaborative problem-solving. It gives students the space to develop their confidence, express their views, and learn how to turn suggestions into solutions.
This aligns closely with our commitment to The Perse values—fostering a sense of initiative, encouraging service to others, and nurturing young people who are thoughtful, engaged, and ready to contribute to the world beyond the classroom.
We are proud of our Student Council’s efforts and look forward to seeing the positive changes they will continue to bring to our community. Their leadership is a clear reflection of the inclusive, empowering environment we strive to create at The Perse School (Singapore).
