Building the Foundations

At the Pelican, our youngest learners begin their educational journey in a nurturing, joyful environment to spark curiosity and build confidence. Here, children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and discover the world through play-based learning.

An immersive English–Mandarin bilingual programme sits at the heart of our Early Years approach, supporting strong communication and language development from an early age. Alongside literacy, numeracy, and creative expression, we place strong emphasis on personal, social, and emotional development

Curriculum

Cambridge International Curriculum in the Early Years

Our Pelican curriculum starts with a play-based curriculum and transitions to project-based learning. Literacy, Numeracy, Communication, Creative Expression and Understanding the World, are at the heart of our learning approach. We also foster Personal, Social and Emotional Development as a core part of our holistic programme.

Outdoor Education

Learning beyond the classroom, our Pelican Programme integrates outdoor education as a core part of the curriculum through the Perse Exploration Society. Young learners enjoy rich, hands-on experiences in natural surroundings that support their academic, social, and physical development.

Languages (Mandarin/Japanese)

Children in our Pelican Programme benefit from a multilingual approach, with regular Mandarin lessons supporting children’s development in both English and Mandarin.

For Nursery and Reception, all students will study Mandarin five times a week. In Year 1 and 2, Mandarin lessons take place three times a week, with the option to choose between Mandarin or Japanese.
